This application that uses the internal barometer and setting from a weather station to compute altitude in the same way the real aircraft instruments do.Altimeter setting for most airports in the world are automatically downloaded from the NOAA site in METAR format.Now it can also be used with X-Plane by Laminar Research running on a desktop computer to indicate altitude in simulated flight on a phone display instead of occupying space on the monitor.
